Captain Luis Eloy Hernandez
Captain
Experienced Sportfishing Boat Captain with 27 years on the water and over 12,800 documented sea hours. Skilled in vessel operation up to 200 GT, crew supervision, client service, and safety procedures. Luis holds a Yacht Captain License (up to 200 GT) for Panama, with expertise in navigation, charter operations, and long-distance travel throughout the Pacific Central America, including Marina Papagayo, Marina Flamingo, and Marina Pez Vela. Chris Bartler
Owner Operator
Chris Bartler is from the United States and frequently travels to Costa Rica with his family. A lifelong fishing enthusiast, Chris has a passion for pursuing a wide variety of species, with yellowfin tuna being a particular favorite. He also enjoys targeting roosterfish, sailfish, blue marlin, black marlin, cubera snapper, and red snapper. Chris's love for Costa Rica, its incredible waters, and its world-class sportfishing is what drew him to become part of Daniel's Legacy.
Mike Cothran
Owner Operator
Mike's love for fishing began as a boy, aboard his father's Bertram in Charleston Harbor. Since moving to Costa Rica sixteen years ago, he has dedicated his free time to sportfishing along its rich coastal waters. Fishing out of Marina Los Sueños, Marina Flamingo, and now Marina Pez Vela, Mike knows firsthand why Costa Rica is celebrated as one of the premier fishing destinations in the world. Today, Mike is proud to partner with one of the finest captains and crews in the country. Now retired, he is dedicated to continuing the legacy his father began—passing down a lifetime love for the sport to his own children, and fishing the world's beautiful coastlines every chance he gets.

Winter Sailfish Season
The Pacific sailfish bite turns on, and this is when most of the region's offshore tournaments are scheduled. Boats are in high demand, so tournament charters should be booked early.
February – March
Regional Offshore Team Tournaments
Quepos and the surrounding marinas regularly host multi-boat offshore team tournaments during this window. Exact dates shift year to year, so contact us for the current schedule.
May – September
Summer Dorado & Marlin Season
Warmer water pushes dorado and marlin closer to the coast, making for fast, technical fishing and a favorite season for our returning guests.
Annually, mid-year
The Legacy Cup
Our own friendly, in-house charity tournament for past guests and locals, benefiting marine conservation efforts along the central Pacific coast.

Los Sueños Signature Triple Crown, Leg 1
The opening leg of Central America's premier billfish series kicks off the season at Los Sueños Marina, drawing sportfishing teams from around the world.
February
Los Sueños Signature Triple Crown, Leg 2
The second leg of the Triple Crown series, with teams competing for points toward the overall title at the Los Sueños Resort and Marina in Herradura.
March
Los Sueños Signature Triple Crown, Leg 3
The final leg and overall Triple Crown champion is crowned, capping off one of the most competitive billfish tournament series in the region.

Offshore World Championship
An invitational tournament held at Los Sueños that brings together top qualifying teams from tournaments around the globe for a week of offshore competition.
